When it comes to losing weight one of the first things people do is lower their carb intake. And as we're in the summer months we see more and more talk of low carb diet’s to get or stay “beach body ready”.

Carbs are probably the most misunderstood food group. And as low carb diet get more and more popular for their “amazing” fat loss results, carbs get a bad reputation.

But the real loser in this, is you.

Having a balance of healthy, complex carbohydrates in your diet is important. Not just for weight loss, but for your overall energy and health.

Low-carb diets are typically very low and fiber. Which is far from ideal.

Fiber is important for helping you to regulate and maintain your weight, reduce the risk of diabetes, reduce the risk of heart disease, balance blood sugar, lowers cholesterol and helps maintain a healthy digestive system.

And guess what, most of those horrible carbs you’ve been told to avoid are often a great source of fiber.

We are often told to listen to our bodies. And it’s true, you can often identify issues just by paying attention to how you feel. But, with low-carb diets we’re told it’s the body “adapting”, when the reality is that it could be saying you need more carbs in your life.

Carbs are not to be feared! They won’t make you gain weight. In fact, when overall calorie intake is considered, low carb diets don’t perform better than high carb for weight loss.
